December 2007
The end of 2007
This is always a weird time to look back on your year, especially when you are a student.  The calender doesn’t line up with the school year, so I have bits of Freshman and Sophomore year at the University of Cincinnati to mash into one cohesive retrospective. In the amount of bad vs. good events, I think this year may have been a bit of a downer.  There was a silver lining to many of them...

Space
I’ve copied everything from my hard drive to my external, but I can’t decide/figure out what to take off of my computer to free up some space. I’m too much of a pacrat.  I feel like I’ll need everything all the time. Suggestions?

I create little scenes in my head.
Two from today: Girl driving home, talking about her sister Susan: Susan had a knack for making people feel really good about themselves.  Especially her boyfriends, who eventually thought they were too good for even her and left.  Also, another conversation… random voices.. Just A cup of coffee? Yeah, no time for anything else… I have to B somewhere. I C Well this is D-licious, thank...

Damper on the x-mas eve.
Ex-best messages that he misses me… merry x-mas, all that jazz.  Want’s to catch up, says he knows he wasn’t the best friend and doesn’t know if he can be still, but that we can hang out a lot over break and just see.  Altogether quite unlike him, but I doubt he’s really had some personality-changing breakthrough. I think I’m over it all.  So, does that mean I...

Sending myself messages
I changed my voicemail service to YouMail, which makes it a bit harder to check your messages but gives you many choices of pre-recorded messages… most of them stupid, but I really like the foreign language greetings. Anyways, another nice thing is that you can have different greetings for different people, as well as check your voicemail online, and then save the soundbite or e-mail...

Christmas is a secular holiday
I’m sick of religious media commentators being up in arms about the perceived secularization of Christmas. I agree that materialism is out of control in our culture, but humans all over the world have been celebrating the winter solstice time since long before Jesus. Roland Martin recently said, “we should continue to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.” Well,...

Nick, again, supporting Cinci… but not a good song choice.  It was weird. LaBelle… holy freaking shit.  I fucking love love love you and the choir is amazing. (why I write this like they’re reading… no idea)

Be of good cheer!
There’s a house I pass that has really pretty lights, and somehow, in a classy way, they managed to decorate without anything but white and blue lights, and no blow-up-anythings, but still have the exterior of the house shine with Christmas/Holiday/Solstice/Yuletide spirit and happiness!  So, I did what I had been thinking of doing for a few years now, every winter.  I wrote a little note...

Kill the panda
I don’t know why pandas are always the representatives for movements to save endangered species. Pandas absolutely suck at living. They can’t eat:Despite its taxonomic classification as a carnivore, the panda has a diet that is primarily herbivorous, which consists almost exclusively of bamboo. However, pandas still have the digestive system of a carnivore and do not have the ability to digest...

Erdős–Bacon number →
An individual’s Erdős–Bacon number is the sum of one’s Erdős number—which measures the “collaborative distance” in authoring mathematical papers between that individual and Hungarian mathematician Paul Erdős—and one’s Bacon number—which represents the number of links, through roles in films, by which the individual is separated from actor Kevin Bacon. — bullshit

I had a daydream where male deer impressed mates by covering their antlers with mud and moss, and letting seeds and burrs root in their antlers.  The males with the largest flora/rack of grass, bushes, and trees attract more mates.
